Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd.
In January 2025, Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. (hereinafter” Yamaha Motor”) completed the absorption merger of its consolidated subsidiary, Yamaha Motor Electronics Co., Ltd. (hereinafter “YEJP”). This strategic move was designed to accelerate key growth initiatives outlined in Yamaha Motor’s Medium-Term Management Plan, including the expansion of the electric power-assisted bicycle business, R&D in new mobility sectors, and the electrification of core products such as motorcycles and outboard motors.
As a specialist in electronic components, YEJP has historically spearheaded the development and production of high-precision parts for a wide array of Yamaha Motor products. This specialized role made the redesign of post-merger supply chains—spanning both product portfolios and commercial flows—an essential requirement for successful integration. Additionally, the project involved reassigning more than 600 employees from YEJP’s eight departments into over ten different departments within Yamaha Motor. Ensuring a seamless transition that empowered these employees to continue their contributions was a critical objective. SIGMAXYZ supported this complex and high-priority integration project by serving as the Project Management Office (PMO).
Since joining the project in July 2023, SIGMAXYZ provided comprehensive support for approximately 1.5 years, focusing on three dimensions: management, operational, and mindset integration. This involvement spanned the entire lifecycle of the project, from defining integration policies and execution plans to progress management, issue resolution, and communication enhancement. Leveraging deep PMO expertise, SIGMAXYZ maintained a holistic perspective while driving the definition of the "To-Be" state through rigorous operational and system inventories, walkthroughs, and trials. Deep involvement in the client’s frontline operations allowed for the design and visualization of new processes at a granular level, providing clear operational clarity. Furthermore, organizational change was driven by empowering individual departments to resolve issues independently, which facilitated smooth consensus-building among diverse stakeholders.
In January 2025, Yamaha Motor successfully completed the merger of YEJP as scheduled, with all departments transitioning smoothly into their new operations. Post-integration, the company continues to strive for maximum synergy—including further operational refinements—by fully leveraging the combined expertise of its expanded workforce.
SIGMAXYZ remains committed to refining and applying its project management capabilities to support the transformation of enterprises across a wide range of industries.
